130 years of Brzeziny Specialist Hospital
On May 26th 2017, celebrations were held to mark the 130th anniversary of the Brzeziny Specialist Hospital.
The history of the establishment dates back to 1887, when the local authorities decided to set up a hospital in Brzeziny. In its early days, the Hospital had a capacity of ten beds, with patients looked after by one physician only. Today, it is one of the most advanced medical centres in Poland, and its trademark is recognised well beyond the regional boundaries.
The Brzeziny Specialist Hospital is a prominent centre for the treatment of colorectal and breast neoplasms, performing about 400 oncological surgeries annually.
The Hospital is also one of Poland’s three leading centres that perform almost all of gastrointestinal neoplasm removal operations and procedures in the country.
The Hospital features the Centre for Colorectal Disease—the first such centre in Poland, established and led by Prof. Adam Dziki, a world-class proctologist.
