Award to Pelion in the national edition of Icebreakers 2016
Pelion, the largest domestic company in the Polish healthcare sector, took the second place in the 11th national edition of the Icebreakers 2016 competition and was awarded silver medal in the ‘Open market’ category by the competition Board.
The competition is organised by the Polish Association of Employers of the Disabled (POPON) to honour companies, institutions and private individuals that are sensitive to the problems of people with disabilities and open to their needs, are aware of the importance and necessity of their social and professional inclusion, and create new jobs and better workplaces adapted to the needs of this group of employees.
The awards in the 11th national edition of Icebreakers were presented at an official gala ceremony held on September 29th 2016 at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The silver medal was collected on behalf of Pelion by Mariola Belina-Prażmowska, Vice-President of the Pelion S.A. Management Board, from Jan Zając, President of the Management Board of POPON, and Rafał Porzeziński, Director of Polish Radio Channel 1.
The competition Board distinguished Pelion for creating jobs for people with disabilities across Poland and for its active involvement in the organisation and celebration of the Global Dignity Day, teaching dignity and respect for the disabled, elderly and the sick.
“Care for people’s health and helping those in need are in line with Pelion’s mission. For 26 years of our presence on the healthcare market we have created stable and development-oriented jobs for all groups of employees, including the physically disabled. For many years, we have employed people with physical disabilities in various positions at companies in different regions of Poland. Our DOZ ‘I Care for My Health’ Foundation, established nearly 10 years ago, supports people with visual and hearing impairments as well as those in wheelchairs, for instance by offering assistance in purchasing medication. We have made our DOZ Maraton in Łódź open to the disabled in an effort to encourage their activity and promote healthy lifestyles,” said Mariola Belina-Prażmowska, Vice-President of Pelion S.A.
Icebreakers 2016 received the honorary patronage of the First Lady of the Republic of Poland, Agata Kornhauser-Duda.
Earlier, on September 15th 2016, Pelion won the first place in the ‘Open market’ category of the local edition of Icebreakers 2016 in the province of Łódź.
