Almost PLN 80,000 collected at the Seventh Charity Evening of the DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation
Nearly PLN 80,000 was collected by the DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation at the auction held on December 5th 2017 during the Charity Evening in Łódź. All proceeds from the auction will go towards help to the elderly and promotion of their social inclusion.
The Charity Evening brought together a large group of the Foundation supporters. Invaluable support in the form of charitable donations was offered by the event participants representing business, pharmaceutical industry, medicine, science and culture, who also took part in an auction featuring almost a hundred objects, including works by senior citizens and professional artists, such as Grzegorz Adach, Henryk Płóciennik, Iwan Kulik, Elżbieta Bocianowska and Marian Bocianowski, as well as photos taken by Adam Wajrak and Jacek Kusiński, to name a few. The guests also bid on various sports memorabilia, including balls autographed by Polish handball players and a T-shirt signed by Małgorzata Niemczyk, a volleyball player and European Champion in 2003.
The event was moderated by journalist Marcin Prokop. The Evening was enlivened by the performance of the special guest – singer, composer and songwriter Halina Frąckowiak.
All funds raised during the Evening will support projects to increase physical activity of elderly people, including through construction of a dedicated outdoor workout zone in the Adam Mickiewicz Park in Łódź.
The DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation gives special focus to elderly people. Persons aged 60 or more account for 78% of all those who have benefited from the Foundation’s support to date. Their needs will shape the activities of DOZ Foundation in the years to come. The Foundation will offer financial aid to the elderly and support their physical and intellectual activity to help them have quality life and avoid social exclusion.
“The elderly are especially dear to us – they are our parents, grandparents, neighbours and members of our local communities. It is our priority to make the autumn of their lives as joyous as possible,’ says Elżbieta Łacina, Member of the Management Board of the DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation.
Every year, the charity evenings, organised by the Foundation for seven years now, bring together many participants representing business, pharmaceutical industry, medicine, science and culture. The funds raised during each Evening are used to help those most in need. To date, help has been given to seriously ill children from a children's home in Łódź, persons who have had a stroke and who are suffering from incurable intestinal diseases, little patients struggling with cancer, as well as mothers and their children under the care of Single Mothers Shelters across Poland.
This year’s Charity Evening was also an opportunity to celebrate and review the ten years of the DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation's activities. The Foundation was established in 2007 at the initiative of Pelion, the founder, with a view to tackling the problem of barriers in access to pharmaceuticals. A year later, the Foundation was included in the list of public benefit organisations. Since its creation, the Foundation has given out more than PLN 10m to charitable causes. The funds have been donated to the most needy: the elderly, single mothers, families with many children and people suffering from chronic diseases. Since 2013, the Foundation has been a member of the Polish Donors Forum.
