In 2004, having included Apteki Polskie and Cefarm Łódź along with their pharmacy chains in its Group, Pelion (then PGF) commenced to expand its footprint in the retail segment. Earlier Pelion had cooperated with the companies under the Dbam o Zdrowie ("I Care for My Health") loyalty programme, launched in 2001. The objective behind the programme is the promotion of pharmacies as places where, in addition to buying medicines, customers can obtain professional advice. The participating pharmacies are provided with comprehensive assistance in reaching patients effectively, as well as innovative tools for building customer trust. Currently, the Dbam o Zdrowie programme brings together more than two thousand pharmacies all over Poland, and covers over 3 million patients.
In 2008, a decision was made to separate the retail and wholesale lines within the Group. The reorganisation resulted in setting up Central European Pharmaceutical Distribution N.V. (now Corporation of European Pharmaceutical Distributors), a holding company registered in the Netherlands, responsible for the development of the pharmaceutical retail network in Central and Eastern Europe.
CEPD N.V. is among the leading retail pharmaceutical distributors in the CEE region. Through its subsidiary DOZ S.A., it manages the largest family of pharmacies in Poland, and one of the largest in Europe, unified under the Dbam o Zdrowie brand (currently over 2 thousand outlets). The Dbam o Zdrowie pharmacies in Poland and Gintarine Vaistine, Norfos Vaistine Baltijos and Litfarma Vaistine pharmacies in Lithuania have a combined monthly customer turnout of almost 10 million. The distinctive orange-coloured pharmacies can be found all over the country – at shopping malls, on the main streets of big cities, in small towns and villages. In its day-to-day operations, the Company wants the Dbam o Zdrowie pharmacies to be associated with professional pharmaceutical care, a wide range of products and services, commitment to disease prevention and health awareness initiatives, as well as promotion of knowledge in the field of pharmacy and medicine.
DOZ S.A. operates www.doz.pl., Poland's largest website devoted to health-related issues and healthy lifestyle. The e-pharmacy service available via the website is the largest in Poland and the only one selling prescription drugs. The On-Line Pharmacy offers a selection of over 17 thousand medicinal products, the widest to be found on the market, in addition to attractive rebate schemes and daily promotions. It is unique in that it combines on-line sales with a country-wide network of traditional pharmacies. As a result, patients can order products through www.doz.pl and collect them at a selected Dbam o Zdrowie pharmacy. As the price is not increased by the cost of delivery, pharmaceuticals ordered through the website are among the cheapest on the market. Every month, the website attracts nearly 3 million visitors.
DOZ S.A. also publishes a bimonthly entitled "Dbam o Zdrowie", designed to promote healthy lifestyle. The magazine is distributed among some participants of the customer loyalty programme and is available freely at the pharmacies. Since 2011, the magazine has also been sold through the Empik chain and Inmedio news stands.
